Our weekend!

Friday night was such a fun night. I volunteer with younglife, and Friday night we had a tacky prom for the high school kids.  We all just dressed up crazy and had a wild dance party! It was a ton of fun. Will and I nailed the costumes and awkward 80's prom pics!

Saturday I spent the whole day working.  When I was done,  we went to spend time with Will's family and his family that traveled from Wisconsin by CAR. Crazy! They were heading to Disney World, so they stopped by to visit!

Sunday morning we woke up and went to church.  It was an amazing service!  The series we are going through right now is "Who is Jesus Really?".  A lot of interesting points have been brought up that I never even thought about.
After church, Will and I grabbed some yummy Chinese food and headed to the Gap outlet with my 40% off my entire purchase coupon! I got some really cute stuff!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and watching my guilty pleasure, Pretty Little Liars.  I know, I know- it's an ABC family teenage girl show.  But I cannot get enough of it!  We ate a Outback with Will's parents which was such a treat because then I didn't have to cook! :)

Will and I have been waking up every morning at 7 a.m. to go to the gym.  It has been great but tough on me on the mornings I want to sleep in.  We have been eating a lot healthier and I already feel so much better about myself!  I am not trying to lose any weight, just trying to tone up and get into shape. Will is doing SO awesome and I am so proud of him.  This morning, I made a feta cheese and spinach omelet with toast and cut up apples and bananas.  Boy, it was good!  I'm trying to find super healthy recipes that also sound appetizing....it's tough!

p.s. Today is ONE YEAR since Will asked me to be his wife!!!! :)

REST

I have been struggling SO badly with managing time lately.  It seems as though my life never stops until my head hits the pillow at night.  But the past few days, God has been teaching me about rest. I make myself busier than I really am.  That doesn't mean that I'm not busy.  Having stuff to do after work 4 out of 7 nights of the week IS a busy schedule.  Plus, I have recently started working Saturdays at my job.  So I work 6 days a week.  While it is tiring, I am thankful that I have a job and an opportunity to make money.  But the reason I say that I make myself busier than I really am is because I spend SO much time checking instagram, facebook, etc.  I don't allow myself to have those moments when I have nothing better to do than check social media to just rest
This word has literally thrown itself at me since the week Will and I got back from our honeymoon.  I have worn myself out, but not allowing myself to take full advantage of any spare seconds I have to just rest, or pray, or read scripture.
We live in a culture where if you're not busy busy busy you just feel flat out lazy and you feel like the world is spinning around you and you are just sitting still.  Atleast that's how I feel most of the time.

I had the most refreshing morning reading my devotional.  It was another subtle reminder from our wonderful God to rest:
"Do not hesitate to receive Joy from Me, for I bestow it on you abundantly.  The more you rest in My Presence, the more freely My blessings flow into you.  In the Light of my Love, you are gradually transformed from glory to glory.  It is through spending time with Me that you realize how wide and long and high and deep is My Love for you.
Sometimes the relationship I offer you seems to good to be true.  I pour My very Life into you, and all you have to do is receive Me.  In a world characterized by working and taking, the admonition to rest and receive seems too easy.  There is a close connection between receiving and believing: As you trust Me more and more, you are able to receive Me and My blessing abundantly.  Be still, and know that I am God."
I hope this is encouraging to anyone else who feels just as tired as I do.  Rest in Him today.

Jenna

Honeymoon!

The morning after our wedding, we did some sleeping in and got ready and headed to Jacksonville. We planned a rest day in between the wedding and traveling. On our way to Jacksonville we were both quite hungry, but for some reason all that I wanted was Taco Bell. So that's where we stopped to eat. So romantic. :)

We spent the majority of the day in Jacksonville just watching TV in our hotel room. We were exhausted! We finally mustered up the energy and headed to St. John's town center. We stopped in a few stores and then ended up having dinner at p.f. Changs! That was a treat since we don't have that restaurant in valdosta.

We left early the next morning (5 am to be exact) to head to the airport. We were EXHAUSTED.

Trying to waste time during a layover...

We flew from Jacksonville to Atlanta to Dominican Republic. When we got to the DR it was an hour ride to the resort which went by very quickly because it was like a sight seeing tour.

BEAUTIFUL!

They put a cute Honeymooners banner on our door :)

We stayed at Excellence Resort in Punta Cana and I HIGHLY recommend it. Our days were filled with being as lazy as possible in the sun. We would usually start on the beach on the morning, but it was so windy we would end up moving up to the pool.

It started out beautiful and wonderful like this....

...and like this.

And would turn into a freezing windstorm in a matter of seconds.
(Note the trees blowing behind me)

All of the food and drinks were all inclusive which was awesome! It was so great not having to pull out a dime the whole time we were there!

At night they always had fun shows to watch such as a Michael Jackson show, a circus show, and a show that showed off some traditional Dominican Republic dances.

This guy was IDENTICAL to Michael Jackson

The circus show!
The shows didn't start until 9:30, so we would usually go in from the pool or beach around 5, get showered off, take a little nap, and head to dinner around 7. Being on vacation time was something I loved! It's so nice to get out of routines and business and just be able to make your own schedule.
The resort had 8 different restaurants. My favorite was the Italian restaurant, the Mediterranean restaurant, and the Japanese restaurant.

Eating a whole pizza by myself at 11 p.m. Classy, I know.

Our romantic dinner :)

My favorite thing we did and a dream come true was that we got to go horseback riding on the beach!  It was included in our honeymoon package, and it was something I always wanted to do, so we woke up early one morning to go! It was so much fun! Will didn't believe me that I knew how to ride horses, but I was leading the group the whole time. ;)

We met 2 young couples that got married on the same day as us and they were from Kentucky and Tennessee so we all felt connected since we were the few "southerners" there. They were all so sweet  and so fun to be around.

The girls at the disco!

The only bad thing about our vacation (which wasn't even that bad) was that the only time our transportation could take us from the resort to the airport was 6 hours before our flight.  We ended up sitting in a little park at the airport for a VERY long time...then stood in line for about 2 hours to get through security.  But hey, if that's the worst thing that happened then I think we did alright!
Waiting patiently...

Hubby taking a snooze on the park bench.

I would give anything right now to be back on our honeymoon.  Uninterrupted time with my husband and just relaxing in my favorite of places (the beach) was so incredible. I loved every second of our first week of marriage! I'm already begging will to take me on another vacation! :)

I wish to be a better blogger...

Well, once again, time got away from me. I mean a wedding, honeymoon, an settling into married life is a good excuse....isn't it? I honestly feel like my life NEVER slows down.

I have been working in the mornings at White Weddings. It's a beautiful bridal store in Valdosta. After I leave there, I work at the daycare for the rest of the day. My schedule is actually really good for me because I am able to split up my day doing different things instead of being at the same job, doing the same thing, and seeing the same people all day every day.  I get SO bored so easily so this works really well for me and makes the work day seem to go by quickly!

Hopefully tonight I will do a post on our honeymoon. I will wait for our wedding pictures to come in to do a post on our wonderful wedding!
